Call for the creation of a Universal Index of Solidarity Initiatives
Solidarity is often the subject of many emotional evaluations. However, there is probably another decisive issue for social relations: that of attributing a new rational value to solidarity. A universal value, constant, universally recognized!
Often a source of admiration, gratitude, support, consideration, solidarity is often evoked in terms of human values, those that we share, more or less, depending on the case, that we evaluate, and estimate in anyway, and to which one resorts, to win battles, competitions, help to get out of difficulties or even save lives.
- Why not give solidarity a value index?
- Why not consider this index as an element of appreciation of a specific society, its maturity, its evolution, and its position relative to others?
The purpose of the following:
- Constitute an argument in favor of the creation of a Solidarity Initiative Index, as a new issue of a positive globalization.
- Valorize Solidarity, determine its level, knowing that the societal issues that are attached to it are certainly one of the most daring challenges of the future years.
We evaluate countries, regions, cities on economic criteria, GDP, GDP per Capita, productivity. We even created a Happiness Index! But we do not quantify what constitutes, especially for developing countries, the poorest countries, an engine of social life, creator of such significant added values.
The solidarity initiative is a net creator of values
Example No. 1:
This universe is that of Louise Chambers. She is a widow. Retired since 15 years. After a teaching career. Louise decided to do tutoring after children of her neighbors. From 8 to 18 years. They jostle at Louise's door. According to their mood. Their difficulties. Their goals. These students go to Louise as if they were going to the stadium. With enthusiasm. While at school, they went there by shuffling their feet. Since they are dating Louise. Their notes have made extraordinary leaps. Others passed their exams. Or have chosen learning and succeed. How did Louise go about transforming these young people? She just invented games. A low pedagogy on pleasure. With simple instruments. A tablet she taught them to use it in an intelligent way. Creative. Imaginative. And it works. At his level. Louise created Social Innovation.
Questions about Louise Chambers' initiative:
- Is this solidarity initiative valued?
- Does she appear in a writing with a value opposite?
Absolutely not ! Now, Louise, by her imagination, her solidarity, her tenacity has created social value. She is recognized by her environment. She is recognized by those who have benefited from her support. She is recognizable by the facts of the students who succeeded thanks to her. Another question:
- In the success of these young people. What is the share due to the public school? What is the share due to Louise?
Attempted Answers It is likely that if some of these young people have socially progressed in relation to their parents, the success will be attributed in full to the public school under the equal opportunities offered by the Republican school. These young people will appear as thousands of others in terms of social progress. How much will be attributed to Louise? Nothing. No statistics. No figures. No event will mark its existence. Why. Because the solidarity initiative, the creation of social value, the social initiative are not recognized and are not the subject of any statistics or valuation. And if we accept the idea that there are thousands of "Louise", and that each or both of them are creators of social values. We can easily imagine what our societies are obscuring.
Example No. 2:
We are on the other side of the Atlantic. More precisely on the island of Granada. This South Island of the Caribbean Arc does not shine by its social performance, the number of unemployed is high, GDP per capita is low. Despite this, Grenada island 105.000 inhabitants has a faculty of medicine and veterinary initiated by private American funds with within it 900 students. She has trained since its creation 15000 doctors and veterinarians. Last April, the whole university moved to one of the villages of the island to carry out medical and veterinary consultations. During this day, hundreds of patients and animals consulted. This event takes place regularly. It has legitimately been picked up by the local media. This day was an opportunity to detect pathologies, to launch treatments with populations who do not have the means to consult a doctor, who do not even have a means of transport to visit the hospital.
Has this event been the subject of a valuation attempt? Any ! How many Caribbean dollars did doctors, students, veterinarians save?
It is a universe that lacks support and development, it is that of the solidarity initiative.
In a world where states, institutions, have their means reduced, or their effectiveness is sometimes disputed It is a universe of innovation that should be the subject of support and unconditional valuation: Social Innovation .
It would be decisive to put in place an evaluation and measurement index of the Solidarity Initiatives of a country.
- But simply because these initiatives produce value.
- That these values contribute to the progression, the quality of life, the education of a country.
- But above all, because very often, countries that do not have standard economic indices such as very positive GDP, in reality, could have extremely successful solidarity initiative indices. And these Indices are obvious signs of a maturity, of a dynamism that is individual or collective of a country, a city, or a region.
- This information is an indicator of a form of maturity of a society: social maturity, the ability of citizens to take charge of managing their own destiny.
- At a time when the reduction of public deficits leads to the reduction of social budgets, at a time when public organizations lose relevance and even performance, we can imagine that citizens taking charge of social initiatives are likely to compensate, or to fill in the public gaps!
The Universal Index of Solidarity,
the collective energy stimulator of a country.
We imagine that once this index creates, recognized, the latter will undoubtedly be a stimulus to innovate, invent, develop social values. This would be particularly the case in countries where there is a real deficit of public action. Citizens will have a tool for valuing their actions. We will probably see the emergence of new concepts, new means of action.
A creative index of a new competition: rich countries and poor countries on the same starting line.
Without considering that social solidarity is the exclusive prerogative of poor countries, it can be said, however, that the poor often show more solidarity than the rich. It is obvious that the social initiative index would offer them a springboard of recognition that will give them a potential for recognition. This consideration of nitre stems will change their image, offer a new landscape to humanity with a profile more in line with the reality of some countries: "we are not the richest, but are the ones who create highest social values ". When taken into consideration, these social actors will be strengthened, others will be revealed and motivated to act. New sources of action will be created.
Gross Domestic Product per capita versus Solidarity Initiative Index per capita: What is the true value of a country?
The classic investors will be able to have a new field of possibilities of evaluation of a territory, a region, a country: that of the capacity of a population to take charge, to generate solidarity positive, to produce value outside the classical economic or public indices.
One of the challenges of the world economy: To have new sources of development, new strains of investment.
Imagine the scene. A fund manager is facing two countries whose GDP is almost equivalent. How to choose ? Where to go ? He discovers that one of them has a high Solidarity Initiative Index. What does this mean for him? Today. The elements available to him are not sufficient. Tomorrow, he will hold information on the behavior of the target populations, their ability to organize, to take charge. This will be considered a potential human resource. This could be for him a criterion of positive decision in favor of the country that shows the most solidarity, and therefore social and societal maturity.
As we see, the solidarity initiative index should represent a rational evaluation of the evolution of a society. It could be applied to a country, a region, a city. It could also be the subject of an action in its favor, when the latter would show a negative evolution. In any case, it would enlighten all those who seek places, universes where solidarity between individuals is present and active.
The call to project an algorithm to create the index of solidarity initiative is launched!
This algorithm will make it possible to calculate the value of a solidarity initiative and to assign it a significant dimension, accessible to all. It will offer all those who create these solidarity initiatives the opportunity to position themselves within a society in which their action is recognized, considered rationally. It will also offer a new social spring, accessible, appreciated by its universality and its positivity.
No doubt, if the foregoing has been able to convince, the outcome will be without delay to make this new tool operational in the hands of all, individually, collectively, wherever it may be, and whatever the nature of its Solidarity Initiative. to encourage it to contribute to the evolution of our world.
